This Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain faced Inter Miami in the Club World Cup Round of 8 (PSG/Inter Miami highlights). On the sidelines of the match, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV about his players’ performance. His comments came ahead of Bayern Munich’s 4-2 victory over Flamengo.

Enrique “we’re in the quarter-finals and we’re happy.”Enrique “it will be difficult whoever the opponent is.”

Enrique “we’re in the quarter-finals and we’re happy.”

“I’m of course very satisfied with my players’ game. I think we started the game in the best possible way, with the right intensity. I think the second half was a bit different, because the scoreline conditioned it. These are very high-quality players. In the end, we’re in the quarter-finals and we’re happy.”

Enrique “it will be difficult whoever the opponent is.”

“It will be a European club, Bayern Munich, or a Brazilian one, Flamengo. We’ll be watching the game. At this level of the competition, it’s going to be difficult whoever the opponent is. Now is the time to think about resting, we need to prepare well for the match, but we have the time we need. We’re very happy.”

A perfectly controlled match for the Parisians, who are through to the quarter-finals without really forcing themselves. The next match against Bayern Munich will undoubtedly be a little different. The difference between a European club and an MLS club is bound to be felt. But PSG still seem ready to take on any opponent.

As we saw in the Champions League this season, and as we can confirm once again in the Club World Cup, this Luis Enrique version of the team seems to be a cut above the rest. Now it’s just a match, and the facts of the game can change everything. All in all, though, it’s hard not to see PSG as favourites, even if the fatigue continues to mount.
