This Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain take on Bayern Munich at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Club World Cup (kick-off 6pm, broadcast on DAZN). At training on Thursday, 2 days before the match, we saw that Presnel Kimpembe (29-year-old central defender) and Fabian Ruiz (29-year-old midfielder) were absent. For the latter, it’s an unpleasant surprise.
“A session in which Presnel Kimpembe did not take part. As explained by RMC Sport, the defender was the victim of a sole injury on Tuesday (last week). Since then, he has been training in the gym. Fabian Ruiz was also absent. According to our information, the Spanish midfielder is affected by a small virus.”
Kimpembe has unfortunately been in the infirmary for the past week, another “delay” for the unlucky defender, who will certainly not be playing at this Club World Cup.
It’s less serious for Ruiz, but he’s a bit doubtful for Saturday’s match. A virus may well diminish him and the staff won’t take the slightest risk. He could at least be a little out of shape. Even if that’s not a given. It’s not the ideal way to prepare for such a clash.
At least Gabriel Moscardo (19-year-old midfielder) was visibly back. But there’s nothing to suggest that he’ll be able to play in this match, given that he hasn’t featured for PSG since his loan spell at Reims last summer. And that Reims experience was not particularly conclusive.
