Florianne Jourde, the 20-year-old Quebec midfielder who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain a few days ago from USC Trojans (USA), spoke to PSG TV. She spoke of her joy at arriving at PSG, her career path and her goals.
Jourde “it’s a dream.”
How do you feel as a PSG player?
I think it’s a great opportunity. Obviously, it’s a dream for a young player like me to start taking her first professional steps at a big club like PSG. It’s a huge opportunity and I’m very, very happy to be able to start here. Now I can’t wait to get out on the pitch, train and then play matches.
Jourde “I think PSG is the biggest club in France.”
What’s your background?
I’m 20 years old and I was born in Montreal, Quebec. I started playing very early, at the age of 3, and then I went to the training centers in Quebec. Then the Canadian national teams. When I was 18, I moved to the United States to study at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. And now I’m here.
How well did you know PSG before you arrived?
It’s a very big club, followed all over the world, and especially in Quebec, where there are a lot of French people, so the club is very well followed. And I think PSG is the biggest club in France. So obviously, when you’re a French kid, or a Quebecer in my case, it’s the club you watch and dream of being at. It’s a dream for me and a beautiful jersey to wear.
Jourde “I obviously want to win everything and do everything I can to help the team be successful.”
What are your collective and individual goals?
I want to keep developing because I’m still young. I want to learn from the great players at the club. I play in midfield. I’m very competitive and I don’t like losing.
I’m also creative on the pitch. I’m left-handed and I have a very strong attacking flair. It’s going to be an honor to play against great teams, and to be able to make my mark on the pitch.
As a team, of course, I want to win everything and do everything I can to help the team succeed.
A word about the PSG Campus?
It’s incredible. I don’t think there are two like it in Europe. Of course, in the United States there are some very fine facilities, but I think it’s incredible here. What’s more, it’s in Paris, so it’s grandiose. We’re really pampered.
