On Monday at the Stade Vélodrome, Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 1-0 defeat to Olympique de Marseille in the 5th matchday of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. As we do after every match, we then asked our readers to vote for the best Paris Saint-Germain player of the game. Vitinha (a 25-year-old midfielder) emerged as the winner.
Vitinha’s victory comes as no surprise, as he was one of the few PSG players who performed well throughout the match. He remained composed despite the rough treatment he received from the Marseille players and was one of the few players who truly threatened the opposition. Unfortunately, he was largely isolated in attack, and it’s not surprising to see Ilya Zabarnyi (a 23-year-old defender) on the podium as well. The Ukrainian was very solid, which is a good thing.
We would have liked to see more creativity from the other players. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (a 24-year-old forward) had some promising moments, but his performance was too inconsistent. However, the other players didn’t fare any better. We are a little surprised to see votes for Lucas Chevalier (a 23-year-old goalkeeper), who made a crucial mistake leading to the goal and was therefore partly responsible for the defeat. Even though he made a good save late in the game.
Thank you for your votes. As a reminder, the top three players from each match are used to determine the player of the month.
