This Wednesday at 7:00 PM, Ligue 1 offered a multi-match broadcast, one of the games pitting FC Lorient against Paris Saint-Germain. Unfortunately for the Red and Blue, this 10th matchday of Ligue 1 ended in a draw 1-1, but more importantly, Désiré Doué was stretchered off the pitch, having just returned to the squad. Olivier Pantaloni, FC Lorient’s coach, spoke to Ligue Plus after the match to discuss the draw:
Pantaloni: “Tonight, solidarity was once again evident.”
A draw that felt like a victory?
The task was daunting against this fantastic team, and the game plan worked. We decided to sit back and sit deep, with a very compact defensive block, and then, as I said, we had to put in a lot of effort. The players did.
Should we use this match to move forward?
Yes, absolutely, we’re continuing in the same vein as the matches we’ve played recently. Tonight, the team spirit was there again, and that’s something we need to build on this season.
What did you say to them at halftime?
After the first half, we told them we were very happy with what they were doing. They implemented what we wanted to put in place, and it was effective, so we needed to keep it up. We were only halfway through the match, and if we continued to be so united, with good communication, we could achieve a positive result. At the end of the match, we congratulated them.
