On Wednesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Tottenham 5-3 in Matchday 5 of the 2025-2026 Champions League at the Parc des Princes. Here are the highlights and lowlights of this victory.

Highs –

Gems from Vitinha.

We know the 25-year-old midfielder is capable of some beautiful shots, but he still knows how to surprise. His equalizer at 1-1 was sublime, a first-time shot in a far from easy situation. The 2-2 goal was also a delight, a dribbling sequence followed by a perfectly placed left-footed finish. Unfortunately, it was a miss from the Portuguese player that led to Tottenham’s 4-3 lead, but we won’t forget his goals.

Quentin Ndjantou, a young Parisian making his mark.

The surprise in the starting lineup was Quentin Ndjantou, who started as a false nine rather than Senny Mayulu or Lee Kang-in. The 17-year-old Parisian showed he deserves his place in this squad and in the Champions League. Of course, there are still things to refine. But we saw many interesting aspects of his game, including some nice touches. He also made a real effort for the team.

Flops –

Red card for Lucas Hernandez.

The 29-year-old defender brings experience and aggression to the team, but the first point was missed in stoppage time. After easily winning the race against Xavi Simons, he added a foolish and senseless elbow. The red card was justified, even though the action was incomprehensible.

Overwhelmed by crosses

On Tottenham’s first two goals, PSG were caught out far too easily by crosses (including a corner). Outmatched in the duels, the Parisians were late to the second ball. Lucas Chevalier, in particular, was uninspired in this match. It’s all too familiar against this kind of team.
