Paris Saint-Germain defeated Vendée Fontenay 4-0 this Saturday at the Stade de la Beaujoire in the Round of 32 of the 2025-2026 Coupe de France. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique (54 years old) spoke at a press conference.
Luis Enrique: “It’s never easy to face a lower-level team.”
Can this evening be beneficial for Ousmane Dembélé?
I think so. It’s important for a player who is in the recovery phase to get playing time. I think he had a good game. He played 60 minutes, which is important.
Did you enjoy your team’s performance?
It’s wonderful to play in a stadium with this atmosphere; it was a real celebration. We played seriously; it’s never easy to face a team of a very different level, but I think we prepared well and did things right.
Luis Enrique: “We hope to continue winning trophies.”
How would you describe 2025?
It’s been a historic year for the club! Normally, you have to wait until the end of the season to take stock, because we’re in the middle of the 2025-2026 season, but if we only consider 2025, it’s historic. We’re happy; we’ve done the job.
Making history in Paris means a lot to the club, to the city, to its fans. We’ve shown that it wasn’t just a fluke. We hope to continue winning trophies. We’re also happy to be on vacation; it’s good for us to have this time to recover. But after the holidays, we’ll be happy to come back and get on with what’s left of the season.
What’s the return date?
I think we’ll be back on the 4th, we’re arriving for the match against Paris FC… just kidding (laughs).
Do the six titles won change PSG’s status? Is Paris now on par with Barça or Bayern (who have also achieved sextuples in a single year in their history, editor’s note)?
For whom? For us? For our opponents? For the others, you’d have to ask them. For me, it doesn’t change anything. We’re happy, we did the job. Making history in Paris means a lot to the team. We’re still looking to win many more trophies. It wasn’t a fluke, we did a really good job.
