Paris Saint-Germain won their final match of 2025 this Saturday with a 4–0 victory over Vendée Fontenay Foot (video highlights here) in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France. Speaking to PSG TV, Paris defender Lucas Hernandez (29) reflected on the win and on a season that has now come to an end.
Hernandez: “Starting 2026 in the best possible way!”
“Playing in a full stadium is always a great pleasure. It’s a match we took seriously from the very beginning—these games can be complicated if you’re not fully focused in the first few minutes. I think we did a good job, and that’s the most important thing, what we should remember tonight.
Of course, 2025 will remain a very special year in the club’s history. I don’t think we fully realize yet what we truly achieved in 2025. Now we have a break, which will allow us to switch off and disconnect, in order to start 2026 in the best possible way.”
It was a solid win to close out a record-breaking year. The match against Vendée Fontenay Foot could have been a potential trap for a Parisian side at the end of a long season, but a 4–0 victory is a very positive outcome and allows PSG to prepare for 2026 in the best possible conditions.
It will obviously be difficult to match the emotional and sporting heights of 2025. However, Luis Enrique’s men have the ability to chase down new trophies and once again write a beautiful chapter in the club’s history.
