This Sunday at 8.45pm, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) take on Olympique de Marseille (3rd) at the Stade Vélodrome as part of Matchday 9 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. At a press conference, 27-year-old Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi assured us that his team have hope in this match against a different but still dangerous Paris.
Balerdi “ we’re ready”.
“For us, it’s always a special match against PSG, it’s the big Clasico. We have high hopes, and not just for this match. We’re going into this game with confidence and hopes. We know it’s going to be a tough, high-intensity game, but we’re ready for it.”
Balerdi: “ They have a magnificent coach.
A reduced gap with them?
It’s a key match. The difference between the teams, I don’t know. Maybe PSG don’t have the same individuals like Mbappé, Messi or Neymar, but they’re a good team.
They have a magnificent coach, so we have to be careful and expect a very difficult match”, comments relayed by Maxifoot.
Logically enough, Balerdi is not worried about facing PSG. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t respectful and wary. But above all, the Marseille defender stresses that he and his team-mates believe in their chances.
Anything else would of course have gone down badly, but this is perhaps one of the most sincere years we’ve had in a while. Marseille arrive with confidence and certain qualities, while PSG have shown that they can slip up (especially in front of goal) on a big night.
However, the Olympien is avoiding the trap, and there’s no question of saying that Paris has become affordable this year. There are fewer “stars”, but the collective is more developed and there are still some top players.
We can’t wait for this match, which promises to be intense, competitive and spectacular.
