Pedro Fernandez Sarmiento, often called Dro Fernandez, has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this winter. The 18-year-old midfielder doesn’t want to extend his contract with FC Barcelona, which expires in 2027, and has a €6 million release clause that PSG are keen to trigger. Journalist Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sport) has confirmed this.
“Understand that Paris Saint-Germain and Dro have already reached an agreement in principle on an immediate transfer. The 18 y/o talented midfielder wants to join PSG and Luis Enrique. €6m release clause. He will leave FC Barcelona.
Other teams are monitoring the situation, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, but PSG are the clear favourites.”
Everyone seems to be saying the same thing, so it’s safe to say that PSG are indeed well-positioned. It would be a fantastic signing, acquiring a talented and versatile player at a relatively low cost. This could be a huge success, and if Dro Fernandez doesn’t particularly establish himself, the loss would be minimal.
We’ve seen that an extra player in the Parisian squad wouldn’t hurt, especially since he’s an option for several positions. As for the player himself, the idea of playing in this group and with a coach who has already developed several talents could be very appealing. However, it’s not a done deal yet.
