Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward, was substituted in the 23rd minute of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Newcastle at the Parc des Princes. He underwent tests on Thursday to assess the ankle injury, and the news is relatively positive.
“Having suffered a sprained right ankle during the match against Newcastle, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia will be unavailable for 8 to 10 days.”
This is excellent news, as there was initial concern following Kvaratskhelia’s substitution last night. He will, however, return very soon. He will miss the trip to Strasbourg this Sunday (Ligue 1 Matchday 20) and is doubtful for the home game against Marseille on Sunday, February 8 (Matchday 21). After that, the Georgian is expected to be available.
It’s worth noting that the media were somewhat off the mark when announcing his absence, as they initially reported it would be two to three weeks. It’s certainly more encouraging when the news is positive, but it serves as another reminder to exercise caution until it’s officially confirmed.
