Vitinha, the 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, stopped in the mixed zone after the 3-1 defeat against Rennes this Friday at Roazhon Park in the 22nd round of Ligue 1 2025-2026.
Vitinha: “With the team we have, the level we’re at, we always have to win.”
What happened? Were Rennes better? Were you worse? Was it a lack of efficiency?
It’s a bit of everything. It’s really not the result we wanted, that’s clear, very clear. I don’t think we played a bad match. As often happens, we created chances, we didn’t score, well, we only scored one goal. And it shows. And that’s it. We also have to talk about the good match that Rennes played. But even if Rennes plays the game of their lives, we have to win. With the team we have, the level we’re at, we always have to win.
Vitinha: “That’s also what made the difference last year, and what took us so far.”
A word on the criticism leveled by Dembélé?
There are times when you have to pass the ball to the best-positioned player. That’s also what made the difference last year, and what took us so far. We have to stay calm, we have to talk amongst ourselves about the things that aren’t working.
I know everyone wants to score, but sometimes you have to pass the ball to teammates who are better positioned. I can’t imagine anyone only thinking about themselves in this team. But we’re going to discuss it amongst ourselves to fix what didn’t work and be ready for the next match.
