Paris Saint-Germain further consolidated their position as league leaders with a 1-0 victory over RC Lens on Saturday evening (see video summary). With Dembelé opening the scoring so quickly after a Barcola goal, and the Sang et Or reduced to 10 men, it looked like being a high-scoring affair. However, with just a few days to go before the Champions League, the Parisian attack was neither dangerous nor precise enough. The match ended in a narrow victory. Désiré Doué, midfielder for the club de la capitale, stopped to talk to beIN SPORTS journalists after the match:
Doué: “Today we’re 6 points ahead and in first place”.
What was said in the dressing room after this less than flamboyant victory?
We’re already very happy because it’s a victory, as you said. It’s very important in soccer today. Today we’re 6 points ahead and in first place, and we’re continuing to build on our momentum. After that, there are always things to work on, both defensively and offensively, and that’s what we’re going to do tomorrow.
What kept you from going over the edge?
Yes, of course we could have scored more goals. Some days we’ll score 6, other days we’ll only score one, but the most important thing is to get the three points, and we managed to get them.
Did you find a very good keeper or not?
They’re a good goalkeeper and a good team too. As you said, we didn’t score everything, and we’re going to keep working to score more goals every game.
“What will enable me to play more is to continue training”.
Is this versatility you have beneficial or are you going to try to access a more specific position?
At my age, I’m only 19 and I’m versatile, so I’m lucky. I’m continuing to work on that, I’ve got attacking qualities and I can also play lower down. That means I can play a lot of minutes and continue to fit in with this team.
What does the coach say?
These are things I have to keep private because it’s between him and me. When I go out on the pitch, I get technical advice, especially on the defensive side. Offensively, I have to try and find a partner and create danger. That’s what I try to do on the pitch.
Would a goal be the trigger for more playing time?
It’s a very big club with a lot of ambition, and I have some too. My aim is to improve every day in training and in their matches. I don’t think the goal is going to be important for me to play more, and what will enable me to play more is to continue training.
