Desiré Doué, Paris Saint-Germain’s 19-year-old midfielder/attacker, was at a press conference on Tuesday, as part of the French national team’s gathering to which he has been called for the first time. He talked about his progress, his goals for Les Bleus, the pressure and his team-mate Ousmane Dembélé (27-year-old striker).
Doué “It’s a great step forward in my career.
“Playing in the A team?
It’s a great source of pride and happiness. It’s a great step forward in my career.
How have you progressed recently?
I’m trying to progress everywhere. I’m working as hard as I can, and there are still a lot of things I need to work on. I think I’ve progressed in everything. At PSG, I’m working a lot on the defensive side of my game with coach Luis Enrique. I’m very happy to be here.
Doué “I’m used to this pressure”.
Pressure in Les Bleus?
I’m coming into a team with a lot of great players. That’s all there is to this team and it’s up to me to adapt very quickly. But that’s also the case at club level, so I’m used to the pressure. I hope I can count on the support of these players to help me adapt to the national team.
Where does your rigor come from?
My rigor comes from my parents, who have always worked very hard.
What are your objectives with Les Bleus?
I’m here to play. I have ambitions, but that’s like any other player. Whatever playing time I get, I’ll take it.
Doué “Ousmane’s human side is top-notch.”
Dembélé ?
Everything you see in a match, he does in training. It’s a gift to play with him, he’s an exceptional player. The human side of Ousmane is top-notch. He’s helped me adapt to Paris Saint-Germain”, comments relayed by RMC Sport.
Désiré Doué is not just any young talent. He has character and ambition. He makes no secret of it, and on the pitch, he doesn’t try to “do well”. He takes risks, gets his feet wet, fails and succeeds. He’s a complete player, capable of playing in midfield and attack. He defends well, and is a player who can quickly become invaluable.
Being called up to the senior squad of the French national team is obviously a turning point, and we remember his arrival in Paris tinged with doubts when Bayern Munich offered him a move. Today, we feel that he has made the best possible choice. To shine in Paris is to shine in Europe, especially as Luis Enrique doesn’t look at the age and experience of his players.
For him, this is no ordinary week. With Champions League qualification against Liverpool, victory in the Classique against OM and a call-up to the Blues, he can pursue his dream. It’s up to him to show his talent, without overdoing it, but respecting the game. The rest will take care of itself. We really hope he gets his first minutes.
