On Wednesday at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 against AS Monaco in the second leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League playoff tie, qualifying for the Round of 16 (5-4 on aggregate). Here are the player ratings given by Le Parisien and L’Équipe to the capital club (find ours here).
Le Parisien:
Barcola (4.5) – Doué (5) – Kvaratskhelia (5)
Neves (6) – Vitinha (5) – Zaïre-Emery (5)
Nuno Mendes (5) – Pacho (4) – Marquinhos (5) – Hakimi (5)
Safonov (4.5)
L’Equipe:
Luis Enrique – 5
Barcola (5) – Doué (5) – Kvaratskhelia (4)
Neves (6) – Vitinha (4) – Zaïre-Emery (4)
Nuno Mendes (5) – Pacho (3) – Marquinhos (4) – Hakimi (5)
Safonov (5)
These are logical ratings for an “average” PSG side, less dominant, but once again able to respond. We don’t know what the rest of the European season will hold, but the first hurdle is cleared; the next stage will be considerably more challenging. They’ll need to rediscover those little things that made the difference last year.
We saw Hakimi, Vitinha, Pacho, Kvaratskhelia, Doué, and even Barcola looking rather average in a match that could have showcased them. One off-form player is understandable, but here, there were shortcomings across the board. It wasn’t, once again, a great night for PSG, but like Real Madrid a few years ago, we’ll judge them at the end.
