Paris Saint-Germain and Le Havre faced off this Saturday at the Stade Océane as part of Matchday 24 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. The match ended in a 1-0 victory for PSG. After the game, Le Havre coach Didier Digard spoke to Ligue1+.
Digard: “We prepared to win it; that’s our playing philosophy.”
What are your thoughts?
I think if we had started the match the way we did, we could have created more danger. We were very disciplined without the ball, but we lacked flair with it.
At what point did you feel there was a real opportunity?
I’ve believed it since I started preparing for this match; I’ve believed it for a week now. We prepared to win it; that’s our playing philosophy. Then there’s reality. We tried to control the game, but I think we could have been more direct in attack to hurt them.
Digard: “I’m going to push them even harder to secure our place in the league.”
Were you the only one with that conviction, and was it lacking in the attackers?
It’s my role; I have to get my message across. I often tell them that I have more confidence in them than they have in themselves. But that’s been changing for the last two years. They shouldn’t have any inferiority complex. I’m going to push them even harder to secure our place in the league.
Is the key to making PSG doubt themselves? Is it playing a high line?
We’re still battling with other teams; if I thought I had the key, I wouldn’t give it away (smiles). I think Paris has changed things to counter deep-lying defenses. Like having very wide wingers, especially against 5-man defenses. We chose to have 4 players with the ball to have more in the center.
