On Wednesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain secured their place in the 2025-2026 Champions League final with a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich (5-6 on aggregate). The qualification was also celebrated in Paris, particularly around the Parc des Princes stadium. However, this was marred by unrest, reports Le Parisien.
Several people were injured.
PSG supporters gathered near the Parc des Princes in Paris on Wednesday to celebrate their club’s qualification for the Champions League final. These scenes of jubilation were marred by unrest, leading to a total of 127 arrests, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced Thursday morning on Europe 1 radio. 107 arrests took place in Paris itself, while the remainder were made throughout the greater Paris area.
“I obviously condemn these incidents, which are unfortunately becoming commonplace on nights when Paris Saint-Germain wins,” he said. Eleven people were injured, including one person seriously hurt by the use of a mortar. Among the police officers, 23 sustained minor injuries,” the Interior Minister stated.
It’s truly sad to see a sporting celebration lead to such incidents. We understand, of course, the passion and joy. However, certain limits must be respected. This would prevent a feeling of danger surrounding major events. It’s also how fans will regain their freedom. Unfortunately, it only takes a small number of bad actors to penalize everyone.
