This Sunday, May 17th, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) faces Paris FC (11th) at the Stade Jean Bouin (kick-off at 9 pm, CET) for Matchday 34 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. And as before every match, here is a preview of the Parisians’ opponent.
The situation of Paris FC –
After a long period in Ligue 2 (2015-2024) and a project that gained momentum at the beginning of 2025 with the club’s acquisition by the holding company Agache, a subsidiary of LVMH (owned by Bernard Arnault), Paris FC has finally secured promotion to Ligue 1 for the 2025-2026 season.
This comes with certain ambitions, clearly stated during the transfer window, even if there haven’t been any extravagant spending sprees. At the start of the season, Paris FC achieved some impressive results and even briefly occupied a top-half position in the table. However, a lack of consistency in matches led to some significant defensive lapses, resulting in a worrying slide down the standings.
This poor run of form ultimately led to Stéphane Gilli being replaced by Antoine Kombouaré. The former PSG player and coach has done an excellent job turning things around, securing the team’s survival with some outstanding performances. This makes the upcoming match against PSG a welcome end-of-season bonus.

Paris FC’s playing style.
Kombouaré has implemented a slightly more solid team since his arrival, perhaps with a slightly less emphasis on creating chances and attacking. However, they won’t rely solely on a low block; that would be an exaggeration. We expect to see a desire to “dictate the play” at times, while acknowledging the difficulty of this against PSG’s pressing game. The main challenge should be facing a cohesive team determined to hold their own against their rivals who have qualified for the Champions League final.
