Warren Zaïre-Emery, Paris Saint-Germain’s 18-year-old midfielder, was last season’s revelation. He continues to play an important role in Luis Enrique’s system, even if his performances are slightly below his best. Speaking to SoFoot, the French international spoke in particular about his apprenticeship at the capital club, alongside some of soccer’s biggest stars.
“I’ve been lucky enough to train with great stars like Verratti, Ramos, Neymar, Messi and Mbappé. You just watch and see. These are players who have done so much in soccer that you can just watch and listen to the advice they give you.”
For a player of 16, 17 or 18, rubbing shoulders with such immense talents as Neymar, Verratti or Lionel Messi is obviously an incredible opportunity. In terms of learning, it couldn’t be better, and Zaïre-Emery has made the most of it.
If he is now to stand on his own two feet, he still has an enormous amount to learn. Whether at club level or with the French national team, the Parisian star has to keep on working to reach the highest level. Clearly, he has the talent to get there, but he also needs to find that consistency that the best players have.
