Bayern Munich played host to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening, on Matchday 5 of the Champions League. PSG were unable to turn the tie around and continued their poor run of form in the Champions League, losing 1-0 (see video summary). Club de la Capitale midfielder Vitinha took time out after the match to answer Canal+ journalists’ questions about the defeat:
Vitinha: “I still say we have a very good team”.
What are the reasons for this failure today?
It’s difficult to say. We gave everything we had and we’re going out with the impression that the match is totally different if there isn’t the red card. It was really difficult to put in the effort, physical and all. Bayern Munich with an extra player was really difficult. The first half was a real pressing match for both teams. Hard to play, they created more chances. But the goal came from a corner. It’s a tough game.
Another defeat says something about the squad’s limitations?
No, I’m still saying that we’ve got a very good team and that we can beat and play against the best teams and win. Unfortunately, we’re unlucky in this Champions League, we’ve been unlucky in the other games. This match too, with the red, luck or no luck, it’s getting difficult.
How worried are you?
Of course, the situation is difficult. There are three games left and we have to win all three. That’s what we’re going to do.
