Having just arrived at Paris Saint-Germain, Mika Godts—the Parisian club’s 21-year-old Belgian forward—shared his first comments with PSG’s official website. Delighted to be joining “the best club in the world,” the former Ajax player is already making his ambitions clear, highlighting his attacking style and his desire to win trophies.
Godts: “I’m very happy to be here”
Mika, welcome to Paris Saint-Germain. How do you feel? What does it mean to you to be a PSG player?
“I’m very happy to be here; I want to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos, and Luis Enrique. They showed me that they wanted me here at Paris Saint-Germain, and I’m thrilled to be working with them. When PSG called me, I was overjoyed! It’s the best club in the world. It’s a real joy!”
What do you think you can bring to the team?
“I’m a player capable of scoring goals and providing assists. I’m very happy to be able to do that here, at an incredible club like Paris Saint-Germain. It’s an opportunity for me to play my football at the highest level.”
Did you follow PSG’s recent European campaigns?
“I watched every match; it’s a very strong team where the players really play together. I can’t wait to be part of this squad and play alongside such great players.”
Beyond the enthusiasm typical of a presentation, Godts emphasizes the personal involvement of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos, and Luis Enrique. This detail sheds clear light on his recruitment: the Belgian arrives with the full backing of the club’s sporting leadership. His admiration for the Parisian team dynamic is also significant; he isn’t discovering the project at the last minute and knows he is joining a squad where individual talent must constantly serve the collective game.
Godts: “The most important thing for me is helping the team”
What kind of player are you? How do you define yourself?
“I’m a player who loves to dribble. It’s one of my main strengths; I’m an attacking player who likes scoring goals and providing assists. But the most important thing for me is helping the team, maintaining the right mindset, and entertaining the fans. And in my personal life, I’m a calm person who is close to my family.”
PSG is adding a forward capable of taking on defenders, disrupting the opposition’s shape, and delivering end-product in the final third. His 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 matches for Ajax during the 2025–26 season illustrate this development. His challenge now will be to maintain that level of productivity against tougher competition and within a more demanding tactical setup. By prioritizing the team over his individual talents, Godts is already showing he understands that dribbling alone doesn’t guarantee a spot in Luis Enrique’s side.
Godts: “And winning lots of trophies!”
What are your goals—both collective and individual—now that you’re wearing the red and blue?
“PSG is a two-time European champion; I’m coming here with the aim of getting better every day, showcasing my talent, and improving and learning alongside the great players in this squad. And winning lots of trophies!”
Do you have a message for the PSG fans?
“I’m so happy to be here and to get the chance to play for them. PSG is a huge club, and the fans are amazing. I can’t wait to play at the Parc des Princes and meet them.”
Godts aligns his personal development with PSG’s collective ambitions. It is the right balance for a 21-year-old signing: avoiding the trap of hiding behind the role of a mere apprentice, while also not claiming to arrive as an established starter. Competition will force him to earn his playing time, but the Parisian environment should also accelerate his development. His message to the supporters complements an arrival statement that is simple, enthusiastic, and already focused on the pitch.
