Mohamed Salah, the 32-year-old Egyptian striker whose contract with Liverpool expires next June, has been rumoured to be in the sights of Paris Saint-Germain. However, David Ornstein, a journalist with The Athletic, claims on Tuesday that the Egyptian international is far from leaving the English club.
“Confirmation: Salah’s preference is to stay at Liverpool!
He would accept a new one-year contract. He wants to stay in Europe!
LFC wants to keep him, but insists that the financial framework for an extension must make sense given his age.”
There’s been a little hiccup, perhaps some hope, but little by little the Salah dossier seems to be taking the most expected path: an extension at Liverpool. It’s not done yet, so it’s not over, and maybe PSG can believe in it a little. But it’s impossible to be optimistic.
We wouldn’t be surprised by a contract extension, with Paris more or less really on the case. But soccer knows how to surprise. So we’re not totally ruling out the possibility.
