On Friday, Paris Saint-Germain faced Auxerre at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps as part of Matchday 14 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. After a match in which the Rouge et Bleu once again missed countless chances, they finally drew 0-0. Here are our notes on the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Gianluigi Donnarumma (6) – Nothing to do in the first half. A fine save in the second, but we had to stay focused.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (6.5) – An average first half overall. He always puts in his energy, but didn’t make an impact. Much better in the second half, when he sparked a revolt.
Marquinhos (6) – Left pass, right pass, he was a good wiper. Difficult to gauge his game, he played high up the pitch in the second half.
Willian Pacho (5) – Auxerre didn’t attack much, so he wasn’t much use. He’s not likely to shine in the restart. All the same, he doesn’t seem as sovereign as he was a few games ago.
Nuno Mendes (6) – Could have been the man of the first half. There’s still a lot of frustration about his misses.
Midfielders –
Fabian Ruiz (5) – While some will be pleased with his deflection, which led to a great chance, others will remember that he didn’t do much offensively or in the build-up. Better in the second half, but often short, misses a control or uses his bad foot. Replaced in the 79th minute by Marco Asensio.
Vitinha (6) – A far cry from last year’s Vitinha. He still has that sense of play, but he’s doing everything more slowly and making fewer and fewer good cutting moves. He hits the bar after a magnificent move in the box.
Warren Zaïre-Emery (5) – Neutral first half. Second half neutral.
Forwards –
Lee Kang-in (5) – He repeats the same moves with some success, but with him, you’re rarely surprised by what he’s going to do. He’s got quality, but there’s always something missing. Replaced in the 67th minute by Désiré Doué.
Gonçalo Ramos (3) – One chance, not much ball to sink his teeth into. We also expect more from him, particularly in terms of his off-the-ball passing. Replaced in the 62nd minute by Randal Kolo Muani.
Bradley Barcola (3) – The fiery Bradley is still not back. He tried, but when you’ve got his speed, you can’t be satisfied with so little. Replaced by Ousmane Dembélé in the 62nd minute.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (5) – We like his system with Nuno Mendes up top, we like the team that creates chances, but he needs to find a way to give his team the confidence to score goals.
