Paris Saint-Germain welcomes back two key players ahead of their trip to face Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday. According to L’Équipe, forward Ousmane Dembélé (29) and left-back Nuno Mendes (24) have returned to the PSG Campus following a few days of rest. However, Senny Mayulu will miss the match.
Dembélé and Nuno Mendes return; Mayulu out
With three days to go before the trip to northern England to take on Manchester City in the Champions League league phase (Wednesday, 9 PM), Luis Enrique knows he can count on almost his entire squad for this first major clash of the season.
The PSG coach will be without Senny Mayulu—who suffered a muscle injury while on duty with the France U21s—but will be able to call upon Nuno Mendes and Ousmane Dembélé.
After enjoying some time off following an intense international break, the Portuguese full-back and the French forward returned to the Poissy Campus as planned. Dembélé was back on Saturday, while the former Sporting CP defender rejoined the training center on Sunday.
This is welcome news for Luis Enrique, who regains two important players ahead of this European fixture. Their return was anticipated after a brief recovery period; while not a surprise, it allows PSG to prepare for the Manchester City match with greater certainty regarding their squad availability.
On the pitch, the two players offer very different qualities. Dembélé remains invaluable for his attacking work, movement, and pressing, while Mendes provides significant forward drive down the left flank. Both are key figures in PSG’s collective setup, especially when facing opposition of this caliber. One thing is certain: barring any major setbacks, both players will start against Manchester City on Wednesday.
