To conclude the 8th matchday of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Olympique Lyonnais at the Parc des Princes and secured a 2-0 victory. Speaking to PSG TV, 21-year-old Parisian midfielder Senny Mayulu shared his thoughts following the win.
Mayulu: “I saw an opportunity to shoot, so I took it.”
“It was a difficult match against a good team that defended well. But in the end, I think the coach showed trust in everyone; those of us who came off the bench were able to make a positive contribution. Ultimately, the whole team won, so we’re happy.
As for my goal—Lucas (Hernandez) made a run down the flank and passed the ball to Mika, who then laid it back to me. I saw an opportunity to shoot, so I took it. It went in, and I’m glad I could help the team with that goal.”
Mayulu: “The entire squad is ready to start matches.”
“Everyone is ready. The coach selects the lineup, but I believe the entire squad is prepared—whether that means starting a match or coming on to make an impact. That is our strength, and we showed that today.”
PSG secured a win against their rivals from Lyon, who could have moved into first place in the standings with a victory. Once again, however, the Parisians proved formidable at home. Following their impressive 4-2 win over FC Barcelona last Tuesday, Luis Enrique’s men followed up with another strong performance in the league. This match also highlights the quality of the players who typically make up the Parisian bench. The entire squad is ready to give 100% at any given moment.
Now sitting at the top of the table, PSG is sending a very clear message to Ligue 1. Despite a somewhat complicated start to the season, the Parisians are well and truly prepared—and determined—to fight for another French league title. Along with other trophies, the objective is clear.
