Here is our ongoing series: 5 compelling reasons to tune in to a match. Ahead of each game, we’ll highlight what makes it worth watching—blending a bit of seriousness with a touch of humor. Please note: this is by no means an exhaustive look at the matchup. Next up is Paris Saint-Germain (1st) versus Troyes (16th) this Saturday at the Parc des Princes, as part of Matchday 10 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season (kick-off at 9:05 PM; CET).
5 – Troyes—a newly promoted side fighting to stay up.
At the end of the 2023-2024 season, Troyes came close to being relegated to the National division, only to be saved by the administrative relegation of Girondins de Bordeaux. Since then, the club has steered itself back in the right direction, going on to become Ligue 2 champions in 2026. Now, they must fight to stay up—without any inhibitions. Hopefully, we’ll see plenty of energy on the pitch as they look to pull off a major upset, rather than a team paralyzed by the fear of dropping points at the Parc.
4 – The international break returns this coming Monday.
The season is truly getting underway: the Ligue 1 standings are taking shape, the Champions League is in full swing, and now we’re heading into a two-week break starting Monday for the November international window. It’s time to make the most of these club matches—even though there are some interesting things to look forward to on the international stage as well.
3 – Ferran Torres: it’s time.
In recent weeks, PSG has been scoring consistently, functioning as an impressive collective unit—complemented by several standout individual performances. We have even seen Senny Mayulu (a 20-year-old midfielder/forward) and Mika Godts (a 21-year-old forward) kick-start their seasons following a tentative beginning. In contrast to this momentum, Ferran Torres (a 26-year-old forward) is currently lacking a bit of sharpness and efficiency. It would be great to see him get back on the scoresheet for PSG before the break, as he hasn’t found the net since the last one.
2 – Another great spectacle in the making.
PSG have been scoring consistently of late, while Troyes—who generally favor a more attacking style—have a reliable defense but have lacked efficiency recently. We can likely expect more goals in this encounter, even if Troyes might adopt a more defensive approach against this particular opponent.
1 – Heading into the break at the top of the table.
To head into the international break with complete peace of mind, PSG must win and maintain their lead at the top of the league. The objective is clear for a team that aims to win everything and would surely prefer to have some breathing room in the league by the time the Champions League knockout stages arrive in the spring. There is no time to waste; every match is important.
