This Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 1-0 victory against Troyes at the Parc des Princes, as part of the 10th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. Here are the hits and misses from this win.
The hits
❤️ Mayulu brought movement to the attack
Deployed as a center-forward, Senny Mayulu quickly found space behind the Troyes defense. He created two chances in the opening minutes, one of which saw his shot deflected onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Konaté. He then shifted his approach; from a short-corner routine, his left-footed cross found Zabarnyi for the only goal of the evening.
His runs provided depth to PSG’s play, and his left foot broke the deadlock when the team’s ball circulation alone wasn’t enough.
Zabarnyi delivered the crucial header
The Ukrainian defender had already tested Konaté with a header before finally finding the breakthrough in the 39th minute. This time, he got the better of his marker, directing a downward header beyond the goalkeeper’s reach. Although he was occasionally troubled by Ripart—and received a yellow card in the first half—Zabarnyi’s presence in the opposition penalty area proved decisive. His header was worth three points.
Zaïre-Emery contributed at both ends
Starting as a right-back, Warren Zaïre-Emery first intervened to stop Ripart inside the box just as the Troyes forward was preparing to shoot. Shortly before the break, he made an impact at the other end of the pitch: a clever nutmeg, a burst of acceleration, and a through ball that sent Ferran Torres one-on-one with Konaté. In a match that often unfolded at a sluggish pace, this display of initiative was a welcome sight.
The misses
😡 Ferran Torres missed the chance to extend the lead
The Spaniard made numerous runs and created genuine scoring opportunities. Konaté won their duels before the break, and Ferran was thwarted by him again after the restart, despite being unmarked when receiving a cross from Fabián Ruiz. While the Troyes goalkeeper deserves some credit, the Parisian forward could certainly have made things more difficult for him in that instance.
Paris dropped the tempo too quickly
After some early warning signs from Mayulu, the Parisians slowed down. Although they finished with 74% possession, for a large portion of the first half, Troyes were able to shift their defensive shape across the pitch without being truly pulled out of position—a stark contrast to the opening minutes. As the runs became less frequent, Paris continued to circulate the ball, giving the Troyes defensive block ample time to reset.
Troyes remained a threat until the very end
Ripart had already forced a save from Safonov with a header before the break. In the 83rd minute, the goalkeeper parried a shot from Karim, and Maronnier followed up to score—only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. At 1-0, Paris also allowed a Troyes player to get a shot off from a rebound just meters from the goal; it took an offside flag to spare them from the consequences of that lapse.
