Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco faced off this Wednesday at the Stade Louis II in an advanced match on Matchday 16 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. The match ended in a 2-4 Parisian victory. After the match, Monaco coach Adi Hütter spoke at a press conference. Despite the disappointment, he retained some positive points.
Hütter “we can’t blame the players for what they showed.”
“First of all, everyone saw a big game, with a lot of intensity, two teams playing forward. We were very good and very brave in the second half, coming back to score. But they came back too quickly and we need to defend better from set-pieces. We’re really disappointed, but we can’t blame the players for what they showed.
If the Championship is over?
You have to congratulate Paris-SG on their victory. I don’t know if it’s over. I’m looking after my team. We’re ten points behind them, but we’ve got our own objectives. We have to remain humble, while being ambitious”, comments relayed by L’Equipe.
Some people prefer to see anger after a defeat, but it’s possible to have appreciated certain things about the team despite the result. Especially against such a tough opponent. You have to recognize that.
That doesn’t stop Hütter from having regrets, and no doubt things he wants to correct with his players. But tackling them in a press conference isn’t necessarily useful. Especially as they were interesting at times.
PSG were simply stronger, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Now all we have to do is work to improve and achieve the best possible result. With the title race dominated by Paris, but not necessarily to be forgotten. The most reasonable objective, and one that Monaco must aim for (at the very least), is 2nd place.
