Gabriel Moscardo, a 19-year-old midfielder who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024 from Corinthians (after a winter loan), was loaned out to Stade de Reims for the 2024-2025 season in order to hone his skills. Unfortunately, he struggled to get playing time, notably due to a number of physical problems. This is happening again just before the play-off against Metz for survival in Ligue 1. Reims coach Samba Diawara made the announcement at a press conference.
“Gabriel Moscardo was injured during the final and is suffering from a sprained ankle.”
Touched in the foot when he signed for PSG, then in the hip when he arrived in Reims and then in the ischio from February to April, Moscardo is followed by some bad luck. He put in an interesting performance against Paris, coming on at half-time. The Brazilian could perhaps have hoped to play in this play-off.
This sprain has put paid to that hope. We still don’t know how serious it is, although it’s a word that covers a fairly wide range of unavailabilities. There may still be hope of being released for the Club World Cup with PSG, should Paris request it and Reims accept. Which is far from a sure thing. Even if Reims have no real reason to keep the Brazilian midfielder.
In any case, these problems don’t help us to project ourselves calmly into the future, when we’ll have to make a new choice this summer between a possible place at PSG or a loan (or even a sale, but that would be a surprise). We can only hope that the rest will be easier.
