This Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain (2nd) face FC Barcelona (12th) at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys (Montjuïc) in the second round of the 2025-2026 Champions League group stage (kick-off at 9 p.m., CET). On Monday, Le Parisien provided an update on the recent injuries to João Neves (21-year-old midfielder), Vitinha (25-year-old midfielder), Fabián Ruiz (29-year-old midfielder), and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24-year-old forward).
“Having suffered a hamstring injury in his left thigh during the European opener against Atalanta Bergamo, João Neves now appears fit again, having returned to training on Monday.
This good news may not come alone, as Vitinha—who did not train—should still be able to feature on Wednesday night, perhaps even from the start. On Monday, after the final session at the PSG Campus before departure, there was optimism about the playmaker’s chances of playing at Montjuïc.
Fabián Ruiz should also be available. The Seville-born midfielder trained individually over the weekend and no longer seems to feel any discomfort or hesitation.
The big doubt, however, remains Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Substituted at half-time on Saturday after repeatedly clutching his left thigh, the Georgian forward was not fit to start as of Monday evening, having missed the session. Still, his trip to Catalonia has not been ruled out.”
Official updates are still awaited for confirmation, as uncertainty remains. For now, though, optimism surrounds the three midfielders, which is already excellent news—even if Neves will likely only be on the bench. That alone is a valuable boost.
As for Kvaratskhelia, the situation is more unclear. Still, it is better than a confirmed absence, and positive news later this week remains possible. The hope now is for progress without any fresh setbacks.
