As part of Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Paris Saint-Germain traveled to face Bayer Leverkusen and came away with a stunning 7–2 victory. After the game, Luis Enrique, the coach of the Parisian side, spoke to PSG TV about his impressions of the match.
Enrique: “It’s beautiful to see our fans away from home”
“I have my usual feeling of wanting to focus on everything positive, but at the same time there were a few things to be concerned about. It was a rather strange match because we conceded goals, penalties, and even had a player sent off. You have to know how to manage these moments, and I think the players performed very well, with ambition.
It’s beautiful to see our supporters away from home — we feel them all the time, and we try to be on their level.”
Enrique: “We want to keep going — our goals are very high”
“It’s a pleasure to watch this team play football. It’s wonderful to see Ousmane back on the pitch, and to see his teammates, like Bradley Barcola, giving him an assist. I think the mentality we have as a team is a beautiful thing. You can see it every day in training, and for us, it’s a real joy.
We want to keep going — our goals are very high, and at the same time, we take pride in seeing this team play such good football.”
With the squad finally almost at full strength, PSG showed no mercy in their third Champions League outing. The team once again demonstrated collective power and precision, with Vitinha acting as the conductor for the full 90 minutes before being rewarded with a goal in stoppage time.
At this stage, PSG’s dominance on the European stage is undeniable. More than ever, the club looks like a serious contender to defend its Champions League crown. The upcoming match at the Parc des Princes against Bayern Munich on November 4 will serve as another strong indicator of their true level — just as the victory in Barcelona (1–2), achieved with a partly injury-hit squad, already showed.
