This Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 2-5 (video highlights Brest/PSG) against Brest on Matchday 20 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 at the Stade Francis-Le Blé. We take a look at the highlights and lowlights of the victory.
Tops –
Ousmane “Hat Trick” Dembélé
This season, we can count on an almost perfect version of Dembélé. His coach has taken him to the next level. Let’s hope it lasts a little longer. He’s a player of great quality, and he’s taking advantage of his position as number 9 to boost his stats and continue to strike fear into the hearts of European footballers. 6 goals in two games, we’re not dreaming, the new Dembélé is here.
Barcola
He too had a lot to prove in recent weeks. What we can say is that he has succeeded in reversing the trend. He’s daring again, and becoming a choice passer for Dembélé. Luis Enrique, and Barcola too, have put their shoulders to the wheel, and there’s a real sense of confidence in the player.
Invincibility
PSG is invincible against teams in France. More than 34 games unbeaten away from home, PSG have not lost at all in France this season. An incredible feat when you consider how difficult it is to keep up. Paris is firing on all cylinders, with its idea of a game that is progressing. Opponents have been warned. Knowing that PSG are still in all competitions, we may well wonder whether the squad can cope with the extra workload.
Flops –
Pacho
We say it when he’s good, even very good, so we have to say it when he takes the water. He’s a young player who still needs to improve, particularly in terms of his game intelligence. He’s made mistakes and we know that it’s legitimate to think that we’ll need more competition, even at these levels.
Hakimi a victim of dilettantism
We’ve rarely seen him miss a match this season. He’s a valiant player, but on Saturday, he showed signs of fatigue, notably in his runs towards the back, but also in his loss of the ball. We’ll have to keep an eye on his physical condition and hope he doesn’t get injured. His performance on Saturday was not good, and he could have made a cleaner throw. We’ll just have to wait and see how everyone manages to get up to speed with the deadlines that lie ahead.
