AS Saint-Etienne’s Georgian attacking midfielder Zouriko Davitachvili spoke to L’Equipe about the arrival of 23-year-old winger Khvicha Kvaratkshelia at Paris Saint-Germain. For him, it’s “great”, and he gave a few hints about the qualities of the new Parisian player.
Davitachvili “I knew he was coming to Paris”.
“Is Kvaratskhelia’s arrival at PSG a pleasant surprise for you?
No, because we often talk to each other. So I knew about it. I knew he was coming to Paris. It’s great to have three Georgians in France who already play together for the national team. It allows us to be even closer to each other.
Davitachvili “He’s someone who trains a lot”.
What kind of footballer is he?
First of all, he’s a real professional. He loves his job. He puts a lot of energy into it, and it shows. He’s someone who trains hard, works hard on himself and always gives his all on the pitch.
Then he shows himself capable of creating to score a goal and playing with both feet. In my opinion, he’s one of the best left wingers in the world (…) He won’t have any problems adapting. Because he’s also very strong in his head.”
It’s unusual to have three successful Georgians in League 1, which shows that this country is on the up and up when it comes to soccer. Of course, Davitashvili is friends with Kvaratskhelia, so his opinion is bound to be biased. That said, he does put forward things that we already know, and therefore confirms them.
The new Parisian is a hard-working player who knows what he wants. He’s got talent in spades, ambidexterity and we already know he’s got a great mind. We can’t wait to see his debut with PSG, certainly this Saturday evening against Reims.
