As it does after every round of matches, L’Équipe has named its Team of the Week for Matchday 1 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season, which took place this weekend. Following their 2-2 draw against Rennes at Roazhon Park, Paris Saint-Germain saw one of their players make the cut.

It seemed almost inevitable that Ferran Torres (26-year-old forward) would feature in this lineup. The Spaniard, who recently arrived from FC Barcelona, was impressive—adapting well to both the style of play and the squad. His impact upon entering the game—highlighted by a brace—was decisive. It was the perfect way to get off to a strong start.
Unfortunately, it is hard to see another Parisian making the selection. Warren Zaïre-Emery (20-year-old midfielder) was a potential candidate, but PSG’s failure to win makes it harder to stand out amidst the weekend’s league competition. Désiré Doué (21-year-old midfielder/forward) posed a significant threat, though his finishing was less clinical. We also know that Paris needs to win to make a statement, and there were other players across the league who truly deserved recognition. Ligue 1 certainly does not lack quality.
