John Textor, President of Olympique Lyonnais, acted as if he wanted to calm the situation with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, but he is continuing his fight against Paris. This with a surprising attack announced by L’Equipe: OL has lodged an appeal to oppose the participation of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24-year-old striker) in last Sunday’s match (which “could” give Lyon victory).
“In an email sent to the LFP competitions commission on Tuesday, which has been seen by L’Équipe, OL president John Textor writes that Kvaratskhelia’s transfer to PSG “was only made possible because of club funding contrary to the regulations prohibiting foreign subsidies”, and adds that “the homologation of his contract and his registration as a new player violate the provisions of the LFP’s administrative regulations.”
Textor’s intended war is clear, even if we don’t really understand it. If the LFP didn’t think the transfer should be accepted, it wouldn’t be homologated. But PSG has obviously respected the rules and Lyon is doing nothing but creating tension. As well as drawing attention to a willingness to fight in the wind. On an argument that’s hard to take seriously.
It’s sad for Lyon, but also for French soccer. It’s time to really move forward together. But Textor obviously has another plan.
