Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, SSC Napoli’s 23-year-old striker under contract until 2027, was the target of a concrete offer from Paris Saint-Germain during the 2024 summer mercato, but his club didn’t open the door despite pressure from his entourage. PSG came back this winter, and this time the Neapolitan club opened up to the Georgian’s desire to leave. Journalist Ben Jacobs claimed on Sunday that the transfer was close to being completed.
“PSG is optimistic about reaching an agreement with Napoli for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, for a much lower amount than originally requested (80 million euros). The current offer is around €60 million, and the parties are not far apart. It is possible that an agreement will be reached next week.”
There is undoubtedly cause for optimism that Kvaratskhelia will soon be joining PSG. Napoli have not confirmed their desire to leave for nothing. However, we can only be sure once an agreement has been officially announced. We’ve already seen a transfer stalled in the end.
We therefore remain cautious, even if we can hope that the arrival of the Georgian international will be finalized in the next few days. The price is a little uncertain, as the various media outlets are not entirely in agreement on a figure of between €65 and €80 million. If PSG manage to complete the deal at the lower end of the estimates, it would be a huge success, whereas Napoli seemed to be asking for 120 million last summer.
