Maghnes Akliouche, AS Monaco’s 23-year-old attacking midfielder, has been tipped by the media as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s targets for the 2024 summer mercato, but has extended his contract (from 2026 to 2028). However, PSG are still interested in his future. The Monegasque was invited to give an update in the mixed zone yesterday after the 2-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais that secured a place in the Champions League.
“I’m under contract with AS Monaco, and I hope I’ll still be there next season. Why not?”, comments relayed by Foot Mercato.
It couldn’t be clearer, and there’s every reason to believe that the young talent will be at Monaco next season. He’s got plenty of playing time, plenty to play for and plenty of room for improvement before taking the next step.
But, be warned, we’re all familiar with these mercato phrases, which are quickly swept aside when concrete offers arrive. Now, there’s nothing to say that PSG in particular will take action. Or any other club. At least, not at the price set by Monaco. The Monegasque club has “rested easy” with the contract extension it signed last summer.
