This Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 1-4 (video highlights Montpellier/PSG) against Montpellier on Matchday 33 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 at the Stade de la Mosson. We take a look at the highlights and lowlights of the victory.
Tops –
The desire
Despite a young squad, despite a title already secured, despite all the winds pushing for a less “dominant” PSG, this match was just in line with this season. 4 goals scored, a great Ramos, who is usually only the 5th wheel, youngsters pushing to learn and finally, PSG wins again.
Ramos
He’s had a tough time of it this season, and may not be here next year, but he’s scored often, despite his limited playing time. What’s more, he fights for the team, he runs, he shows an irreproachable state of mind.
Mayulu
He’s certainly the future of the club. Luis Enrique likes him, he’s getting game time, he’s showing himself, he’s one of the best on the pitch this Saturday night. He needs to go a step further to be part of Luis Enrique’s first plans, to play in the biggest games, to be more than just a player to give the others a breather. But he’s making good progress, and there’s not much more he needs to be in Luis Enrique’s regular rotation.
Flops –
Barcola
He’s definitely finding it harder to be consistent in recent weeks. He’s showing his limits, but we’re wary of him, because he can regain his momentum very quickly. You can tell he doesn’t have the same legs he had a few months ago, but above all, you can tell he’s not as efficient as he used to be.
Lee
He’s probably the player who’s least impressive, who’s struggling the most and who’s fallen down the pecking order. A departure is quite possible for him. His game is very average, he’s no longer making a difference, he’s no longer scoring. Has he reached his limit at a big club? It’s possible.
Doué
He struggled at the start of the season, then was brilliant, but now he’s suffering. Less percussive, less decisive, he seems to be forcing his game. He could have shone in a match like this, but he’s fallen off the radar. He complicates his game and, like his idol Neymar, when he’s not at his best physically, he no longer has the same ability to eliminate and play on instinct.
