The 2024 Champions Trophy, between Paris Saint-Germain (French champion 2023-2024 and French Cup winner) and AS Monaco (2nd in Ligue 1), had to be postponed due to administrative problems, although it had been scheduled for August 8 in Beijing. A new date and venue had to be found.
The Champions Trophy between PSG and AS Monaco will take place on January 5 in Doha.
The 16th round match between ASM and PSG in Ligue 1, which was due to take place on that date, has been brought forward to December 18.
The Champions Trophy will be played on January 5. PSG and Monaco will finish 2024 in Ligue 1 together (there’s the Coupe de France round of 32 on the weekend of the 22nd) and start 2025 with a trophy to fight for. All for a very different game, of course. And at a high level, with the current No. 1 (PSG) facing the No. 2.
Let’s hope it will be a great promotion for French soccer, even if it means playing so far away.
