This Saturday, the women’s teams of Paris Saint-Germain (4th in the First League) and OL Lyonnes (1st in the league) faced off at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in the final of the 2025-2026 LFFP Cup. After the 0-1 defeat, captain Sakina Karchaoui (30-year-old midfielder/full-back) spoke to PSG TV.
Karchaoui: “Everyone needs to improve, and that’s what we’re working on.”
A great match, but inevitably some disappointment?
Yes, the goal was to win. We held our own for a good part of the match. The first half was 0-0, and then after 10 minutes we conceded the goal that hurt us. We kept believing, the girls gave it their all, they never gave up. Then, fatigue set in, and by the 75th minute it was tougher. Today, to take the next step, everyone needs to improve, and that’s what we’re working on.
Karchaoui: “We’re going to work on that.”
A great run?
Yes, we did some good things. But ultimately, we lost 1-0. We’re going to work on that. We won’t forget the warm welcome and the experience; it was fantastic. We would have preferred to end with a victory, but that’s the way it is, there has to be a winner and a loser.
