Paris Saint-Germain took on Bayern Munich at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, winning 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Club World Cup. After the match, FIFA elected the best player.
It’s not “shocking” that Désiré Doué (20-year-old attacking midfielder/forward) should win the match, not least because he opened the scoring in a hard-fought encounter. But it wasn’t an obvious choice either, as he struggled to make his presence felt in the game while positioned in the middle.
However, choosing a player in this confrontation between two great collectives is difficult. And scoring a goal is obviously very important.
