Bayern Munich will face Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025-2026 Champions League semi-finals (April 28 at the Parc des Princes and May 6 at the Allianz Arena). We will therefore be keeping a close eye on the German team’s performances leading up to the second leg. This Wednesday, April 22, Bayern traveled to face Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup semi-final and qualified convincingly with a 2-0 victory.
Bayern’s starting lineup:
Kane
Diaz – Musiala – Olise
Pavlovic – Kimmich
Laimer – Tah – Upamecano – Stanisic
Neuer
After clinching the Bundesliga title last weekend, Bayer were able to fully focus on this final match before the German Cup final and delivered a very convincing performance against the fifth-placed team in the Bundesliga.
The 2-0 scoreline only came in stoppage time (Luis Diaz, 903+), after Harry Kane had opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. But Bayern’s dominance was clear: 17 shots to Bayern’s 2 (10 on target to Bayern’s 1) and 60% possession. Seconds aren’t always Bayern’s strong suit under Vincent Kompany, but they certainly have the ability to create danger very quickly. PSG will clearly need to be wary of them.
Before that, both teams will play in the league this weekend. PSG need a win in Angers on Saturday (kick-off at 7 pm), while Bayern can comfortably manage the match in Mainz on the same day (3:30 pm).
The German Cup final will be on May 23rd against the winner of Stuttgart/Freiburg.
