With the 2024-2025 Champions League final just around the corner (age 31), Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi spoke to UEFA about the difficult road to the final against Paris Saint-Germain at Munich’s Allianz Arena (kick-off 9pm, CET).
“It’s been a long road to the final. We’ve taken it step by step. Of course, everyone remembers the last two games against Barcelona. But if you think back to the quarter-final against Bayern Munich, that was very difficult too. They’re a great team, very strong physically and organized. Those quarter-finals also felt like a final. It was 4 matches of incredible intensity.”
In fact, in the last two rounds, Inter Milan had some very fine opponents. They were title contenders, and to overcome them is a superb performance. It’s more impressive in the quarter-finals than Aston Villa, even if this team has shown that it is to be taken very seriously.
Inter can be proud and confident. But they are no doubt aware that PSG also have great qualities and a path to the final that commands respect. It’s a superb match, and the outcome is very difficult to predict. But the certainty of a great soccer match is there for all to see.
