Vitinha, Paris Saint-Germain’s 25-year-old midfielder, spoke to Canal+ after Wednesday’s 0-1 defeat by Liverpool (video highlights PSG/Liverpool) in the Champions League Round of 8. He spoke of his frustration, but assured us that PSG will qualify.
Vitinha “It’s tough, but now is the time to show what kind of team we are”.
Is this a hold-up for you?
It’s hard, everyone saw it. It’s hard, it’s hard to play a game like that against a team like that and the only chance they had to score… It’s hard, but now we’re going to show what kind of team we are. It’s been a long time since we lost and this has happened, so now it’s up to us to show our personality and our strength. We’ll go out there and play a great game, and this time we’ll score and go through, I’m sure.
Vitinha “We didn’t manage to score, but I’m sure it will happen at Liverpool”.
What’s your take on the potential penalty?
I was on the pitch, it’s hard to see. I’m not going to talk without seeing. We’re not going to hide behind that. I’m still optimistic because with the game we played, it was more than deserved a win for us. I know that in soccer, it’s the ball that goes in. But the truth is, when we play like that, we’re very close. We didn’t manage to score, but I’m sure it’ll happen at Liverpool, we’ll play a great game and show personality and we’ll win.
