Vitinha, Paris Saint-Germain’s 24-year-old midfielder, spoke to DAZN after the 4-1 victory over Monaco (PSG/Monaco video highlights) on Friday at the Parc des Princes as part of Matchday 21 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. He talked about his free-kick goal, his team’s incredible form, the possibility of making it through the season without losing in France, and his return to form.

Vitinha “It was really instinct.”

When do you choose to shoot at the near post?

Good evening, it’s true that I’ve practiced taking free-kicks quite a lot. But not too much lately. It was really instinct, I thought the keeper would do the job in the box. So I thought, why not, and that was that.

Vitinha: “When you’re like that, even the little mistakes you make get through.

How does the group feel about its good results?

You can imagine how we feel. We’re having a great time at every match and we’re enjoying the game. We’re scoring a lot of goals too. We’re very happy, we’re on a good run and we need to make the most of it. We need to keep it that way for as long as possible. There’s still room for improvement, of course, but when we’re like this, even the little mistakes we make get through. We’re too strong.

Can you imagine staying a loser all season? And break the FC Nantes record.

I didn’t know about the FC Nantes record. We don’t think about that. The coach said it during the press conference and it’s true. We’ve never talked about it between us. We think about every match and we want to play good matches. The way we work has produced results so far, and that’s what’s going to take us a long way.

Vitinha: “We have to try to make sure that the lows aren’t too low.

You’re better in 2025, can you tell us about your current level?

Yes, that’s how it is, all players have ups and downs. As players, we have to try to make sure that the lows aren’t too low. We want to be as consistent as possible and keep our highs for as long as possible.

It’s not always like that and it’s hard to do, but it’s true that I see myself getting better too. I don’t think I was too bad at the start of the 2024 season, but we’ve got to keep going like this, like the team, with this momentum, these good feelings and these victories.
