Paris Saint-Germain dropped points at the Parc des Princes for the first time this season on Saturday evening, failing to improve on their dismal 1-1 draw with FC Nantes (see video summary). A match in which the Rouge et Bleu dominated heavily, but once again showed a crying lack of realism in front of goal. Matthis Abline, the Canaris’ 21-year-old striker, spoke to DAZN about his goal:

Matthis Abline: “We performed well across the board”.

How did you react to the goal?

Yes, I went deep, then I wanted to play it collectively with Simons, but I saw that Marquinhos was catching up, so I decided to play 1-on-1.

What exactly do you do?

There’s a little hook that goes through, and I’m happy.

“Paris got into our box, but we were strong.”

Did you get the psychological upper hand on Pacho?

Yes, I felt it on the pitch, after all, when you’re a striker, you want to get that edge over your direct rivals. Tonight, I managed to do just that, at first by playing a simple throw-in and combining. When I had to play one-on-one, I did it and it worked well.

Did you have to play fast on the flanks to find yourself afterwards?

No, I don’t think we had to rush today, we had to be aware of our strength. We played well today. There were times when Paris got into our box, but we were strong. It’s important to underline that. We performed well across the board, and we’re going to keep it that way. With games like that, we’ll get back up the table.
