Paris Saint-Germain are back in 2026 and wrapped up Matchday 17 of Ligue 1 this Sunday against Paris FC (PSG/Paris FC video highlights). After the match, Désiré Doué, the 20-year-old Parisian forward, spoke to PSG TV about the victory.
Doué: “We were at home, the supporters were there for us”
“We knew it was important to win the first match of the year, especially since it was against Paris FC. A derby gives you even more desire to win the match. We were at home, the supporters were there for us, and it’s great to come away with the three points. I think when you’re up against a low block, it’s important to create danger—sometimes through passing, sometimes through dribbling. You really have to mix it up and try everything against the opponent.
Doué: “The year 2025 is over, it was a magnificent season”
Personally, my goal on the pitch is of course to play, perform, and enjoy myself. I’ve always had those objectives in mind. The year 2025 is over—it was a magnificent, exceptional, and historic season for the club. Now, in 2026, we’ll have to go and win many more trophies.”
The year 2025 comes to an end for PSG and its supporters with an inevitable touch of nostalgia. For over a decade, the club had been chasing the Champions League, only to find itself, within just a few months, sweeping up every major trophy. It’s beautiful, magnificent, historic—but it’s naturally difficult to turn that page at the dawn of 2026.
Nevertheless, the Parisians remain ambitious and eager to continue writing their history. That journey begins with this victory against Paris FC, but above all with the Trophée des Champions against Olympique de Marseille this Thursday at 7 p.m. Starting the year with a trophy would be the perfect way to set the tone—and to build confidence for the rest of the season.
