Paris Saint-Germain struck hard with 7 contract extensions announced this Friday (Luis Enrique, Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Yoram Zague, Ibrahim Mbaye, and Naoufel El Hannach). These signings were announced by Parisian president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi on the club’s official website.
Al-Khelaïfi “solid, long-term foundations.”
“We are delighted to announce the extension of our coach Luis Enrique and six fantastic players who continue to build their future at Paris Saint-Germain.
Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Yoram Zague all contribute enormously to our Club. We are also very proud that our Academy has produced the brilliant young players Ibrahim Mbaye and Naoufel El Hannach, who are going on to become professionals.
These announcements are further examples of the solid, long-term foundations we have laid at Paris Saint-Germain – based on developing the best talent, who believe in the project, who fight for the jersey, and who place the collective above all else.
Al-Khelaïfi “We can be very enthusiastic about the future of Paris Saint-Germain.”
I am particularly grateful to our coach, Luis Enrique, who has taken the Club forward and changed it culturally in such a short time.
We can be very enthusiastic about the future of Paris Saint-Germain.”
After trying to “build”, or rather shape, the squad around a few “star” players, PSG has gone in the other direction. First of all, the team, with talented and determined players to develop. Then, individuality can express itself and recruitment will be precise to improve the group.
Some have doubted and criticized, and much remains to be done, but many now agree that the direction taken is an interesting one. It’s a real project, which is better than the circus we’ve sometimes seen, or the collective mush. What’s more, the rise to power of the group and of several players gives a certain confidence, a hope of great things.
We’ll need more results to confirm this season and beyond. But the base is promising and all the more solid with these contract extensions. Which means we’re really building for the future, while the present is already interesting. And the players buy in, believe in and even seem happy. These are essential points for moving forward, especially when the going gets tough. And PSG has done just that in recent months.
Parisian president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi can rejoice, while the fans have rediscovered their enthusiasm and “connection” with PSG. Now it’s time to carry on, without overconfidence or impatience.
