This Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain faced Reims in the final of the Coupe de France 2024-2025 at the Stade de France. After a match in which the Rouge et Bleu clearly didn’t play well, they won 3-0 (video highlights PSG/Reims). Here are our notes on the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Matvey Safonov (6) – A quiet game for the Russian keeper as PSG largely dominated. He did what little he had to do.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (8) – The “flanker” was everywhere in the forward line, made Reims suffer, scored a fine goal and was, as always, very active defensively.
Marquinhos (7) – A serene evening for the Paris captain. Of course, it’s worth pointing out that Reims’ forwards didn’t do much to trouble him. But that’s also because he fulfilled his role so well. The Brazilian was just as good with the ball, and even set up the 2nd goal by being the penultimate passer (to Doué).
Willian Pacho (7) – A rock, as usual. He disgusted the Rémois team by controlling the few attempts at through-ball. Replaced in the 60th minute by Lucas Beraldo.
Nuno Mendes (7) – Impressive in his power, impact and speed, he hurt Reims both offensively and defensively. But he still has room for improvement, both in terms of selection and execution, when it comes to creating attacking opportunities. Replaced in the 60th minute by Lucas Hernandez.
Midfielders –
João Neves (7.5) – What activity from the Parisian number 87! He’s not always the most remarkable with the ball, often choosing to play as quickly and simply as possible, but his energy in movement and defensive aggression make him a real poison for opponents. And make no mistake, he’s far from uninteresting with the ball. Replaced in the 70th minute by Senny Mayulu.
Vitinha (7) – A calm master of the game, the Portuguese midfielder played an important part in his team’s ultra-dominance. Even if we’d like to see another fine shot from distance. Overall, a little more audacity would be nice at times. Replaced in the 70th minute by Warren Zaïre-Emery.
Fabian Ruiz (8) – Impressive in the balance he constantly brings to the team, both offensively and defensively. He makes a lot of accurate passes to gain possession and create chances. He had a few little misses at the end of the chances, including a cross at the end of the first half. But above all, he was very strong.
Forwards –
Ousmane Dembélé (6.5) – He seemed a little under the weather in a terribly strong team. He didn’t miss, but he wasn’t successful enough to score. At times, he seemed a little forced in his search for a shooting position.
Désiré Doué (8) – A very fine performance from Doué, who was very generous with his two assists for Barcola. All he needed was a little success to add a goal. Replaced in the 70th minute by Gonçalo Ramos.
Bradley Barcola (9) – A few times in trouble lately, he was brilliant, scoring 2 goals and adding an assist in the first half. Without ever forgetting his defensive efforts. He has undoubtedly scored points in the competition for next Saturday’s Champions League final against Inter Milan.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (9.5) – The team is impressive, the individuals have progressed over the season, there’s rotation…the work done is exceptional. We hope to add another 0.5 in a week’s time.
