This Saturday, as part of the 19th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain faced Reims at the Parc des Princes. After a match in which the Rouge et Bleu clearly didn’t play a great game, they drew 1-1 (video highlights PSG/Reims). Here are our notes on the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Gianluigi Donnarumma (6) – A good match for the Parisian keeper. Vigilant and reassuring on his feet. Couldn’t do much about the Reims goal, as his defense didn’t defend close enough to the opposing players.
Defenders –
Warren Zaïre-Emery (5) – It’s not his job, he does it without complaint, but not with all the necessary assets. We saw him struggle with the Reims goal.
Lucas Hernandez (6) – A good, aggressive game. He’s not at 100% yet, and you can feel it on the pitch. That said, he’s giving it his all. Replaced by Willian Pacho in the 60th minute.
Lucas Beraldo (4) – Although he’s good at relaunching the team, he still has trouble defending. He needs to work on his physique to become more solid. He can learn from the older players about how to defend, especially one-on-one.
Nuno Mendes (6) – He was pretty good. Offensively, he brings a lot to the table. Positioned higher up in the second half, he contributed more. We like to see him play higher up and combine. He’s unpredictable.
Midfielders –
Lee Kang-In (5.5) – An enjoyable game from him, but he circles the ball a lot without being effective. He could do better, and that’s where his margin for improvement lies, improving his touch and turning his touches of the ball into decisive touches. Replaced by Vitinha in the 60th minute.
Désiré Doué (6) – We saw sequences in which he found high-quality passes in the opponent’s box. He needs to continue in this vein. We also saw a lot of him try his luck on his own, and he needs to be able to do better and get a better feel for the game as a whole.
Fabian Ruiz (5) – Still rather “flat” in his choices. He can’t speed up the game. Luis Enrique has great faith in him, and we wonder why. He’s technically correct, but needs to do better in terms of use.
Forwards –
Ousmane Dembélé (6) – One of the best Parisians on the pitch. Didn’t have his best game either, but his percussion often hurt the opposition. Replaced in the 60th minute by Bradley Barcola.
Gonçalo Ramos (5) – A striker has to score. He had a few chances, but it wasn’t enough. He didn’t have too many balls to deal with, but he did press well. Replaced by Senny Mayulu in the 73rd minute.
Khvicha Kvarastkhelia (6) – A promising debut, especially in the second half. He seemed more free. His strengths are clearly identifiable, and it’s up to him to play his cards right. Decisive in Dembélé’s goal. He was very mobile and will gradually settle in. Replaced in the 83rd minute by Marco Asensio.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (5) – Failed to motivate his team after their strong performance against City. His turnover didn’t pay off at kick-off. He was able to rotate the team before the most important match of the season against Stuttgart. A predictable scenario.
